Then Princess Serenity/Usagi has her own silver star seed, which is also compatible with the Silver Crystal when she inherits it in the series.ģ. Queen Serenity had her own silver star seed, which is part of her soul or whatever, which was compatible with the Silver Crystal.Ģ. Themselves, but rather, are passed from one generation to the next and can be merged into (and withdrawn from) their star seeds.Īccording to the anime, everyone has some sort of star seed even if most of them aren't "true" star seeds (the ones that turn you into a phage when withdrawn), so I think of it as everyone having a star seed that's just built into their soul, and then some star seeds have more affinity for certain kinds of power (the ability to use Sailor Crystals).ġ. My headcanon is that the Silver Crystal and Golden Crystal (or Rose Crystal in Another Story's case) are not technically anyone's star seeds in and of They are how they reincarnate and were all born from the Cauldron. They are Star seeds now and every Senshi has one, always has. If they are forcefully taken the Sailor dies. Then in Stars, they are suddenly super vital. Then we have the Golden Crystal, which is suddenly also super important and has always been inside Mamoru somehow and we get the rushed explanation of the Sailor Crystals and Chibi Usa's crystal evolves into the Pink Moon Crystal and is now her Sailor Crystal rather than just an item of power. Just boom, no individual awakenings or anything. Then of course Saturn just presents the outers with their own, all at once. Mercury and Jupiter's could be argued to have come from within, but Venus' and Mars' appear externally (without real explanations). They exist separately and are given to each of the inners. This isn't a big issue at first since they seem to be more powerful transformation items or the symbol of the Sailor Senshi's awakened powers as Guardians. Then in the Dream Arc things start to get really complicated while also simplifying things with no real explanation. In the Infinity Arc, it kind of takes a backseat to the Holy Grail, which as far as I am aware, is totally separate from the Silver Crystal. This always seemed so contrived to me, either way. I am fuzzy on all of the details and often get manga and '90s anime lore confused in my mind, but I believe in both it is stated the Silver Moon Crystal of the future becomes Chibi Usa's or a new one is born from it or something. We have Neo Queen Serenity living separately from the crystal and Chibi Usa even takes it to the past where of course we have two versions of it existing at once. In the Black Moon Arc, it still seems to be separate from her, at least at first. At this point, it still seems to be an item separate from her as a being. Starting with the first big mystery, the Silver Crystal, originally it is wielded by both Queen Serenity and Sailor Moon, treated as a holy stone but is later said to not just be a magical artifact but the very core of Sailor Moon's existence.Īre the Legendary Silver Crystal and Usagi's Star Seed one and the same? The Dream Arc implies it is so, but how does that make sense?ĭark Kingdom Arc: The Legendary Silver Crystal (I still think Empyrean is a better word for it even if still not perfect) is wielded by Queen Serenity in the past but is reincarnated within Usagi Tsukino. I know the obvious answer is that Naoko just wrote them as she went, but it seems odd how they suddenly become so important that a Senshi can't live without them. What are they and why are they so contradictory.especially the Silver Moon Crystal?
